Food safety is our absolute priority. We set high standards for our own brand suppliers, manufacturing sites and stores to ensure the delivery of safe and legal products that meet the demands of our customers.
All manufacturing sites of Morrisons own brand food and drink must meet our food manufacturing standard and maintain certification against the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Global Standard for Food Safety,
which is internationally recognised.
We conduct approval audits to ensure suppliers meet our food safety standards before supply commences and then hold routine audits to monitor ongoing compliance. The frequency of these routine audits is
determined by supplier performance and product risk.
We also maintain high standards in our stores, where we prepare food from rotisserie chickens to pizzas and fresh cakes. Our retail food safety systems are designed to meet all legal requirements and take
account of industry guidance and codes of practice.
All colleagues working in food preparation areas have an externally accredited food safety qualification and we regularly audit our stores to ensure standards are being met. This is in addition to the routine
inspections carried out by environmental health officers.
