- The initiative is an extension of the Free Fruit for Kids scheme, available in all stores nationwide and will continue for the rest of the season  -

Bradford-based retailer Morrisons kicked off its new initiative on Saturday 5th April 2025, by handing out free fruit to children at Bradford City Association Football Club. Set to continue for the 2025 and 2026 season home games, Morrisons aims to offer young people one of their five-a-day and encourage healthy snacking.

As a main Bradford City AFC club partner, the initiative is an extension of the Morrisons Free Fruit for Kids scheme in all c.500 stores. A range of ‘child friendly’ fruits - including bananas, apples, and sweet clementines– will be offered. At every home game,  kids will be able to select a piece of fruit to enjoy whilst watching the football in the Morrisons Family Stand.

Launched in 2018,  Morrisons was the first supermarket to offer free fruit to kids in every store and still guarantees that surplus fruit will be made available every day. Children can help themselves to the fruit as they shop with their parents and the scheme aims to encourage children to taste and enjoy different types of fruit, which will contribute towards them eating their five-a-day.

As part of its partnership with Bradford City AFC, Morrisons distributes 1,000 free tickets per season to charities across the city, so that those who would not normally be able to attend can watch and enjoy a match.

Liz Tattersley, Corporate Affairs Manager, Morrisons, said: “As a Bradford-based business we are delighted to be taking our free fruit for kids initiative from the store to the stadium. By giving away free fruit to kids at home games, we can provide a healthy choice for children to snack on as they cheer on our local football team.”

Davide Longo, Chief Commercial Officer, Bradford City AFC, said: “The partnership between Bradford City and Morrisons is something we are really proud to be a part of. This initiative is just another one of a long list of activations we are delivering together to benefit the Bradford community.”

Starting as a Bradford market stall back in 1899, Morrisons has long been at the heart of the local northern community for over 125 years. Now with nearly 500 stores across the UK, and nearly 100,000 colleagues, the legacy of its founder, William Morrison, continues through its famous Market Street counters. Where skilled colleagues such as butchers, fishmongers, and bakers all share a commitment to offering great tasting, affordable food for everyone.
