A Morrisons Burgundy wine costing £8 has beaten wines costing as much as £50 per bottle in a prestigious competition.

Morrisons The Best White Burgundy scooped a Silver Medal in the esteemed Decanter World Wine Awards beating much more expensive wines. Château de Meursault 1er Cru Charmes-Dessus, which costs £49.50, yet only managed a Bronze.
- The Burgundy region is home to some of the world’s finest - and most expensive - wines. The top gong in the Burgundy category went to Albert Bichot Criots-Batard-Montrachet - a snip at £375!
- “Burgundy has become the most sought after and expensive region in the world.” said Morrisons Senior Wine Sourcing Manager Clive Donaldson.
- “It is difficult for us to source decent Burgundy at a sensible price. However by working closely with wine producers and blending most of our own-label wines ourselves we manage to sell amazing wines at affordable prices.”
- This hands-on approach has won Morrisons the coveted International Wine Challenge Supermarket of the Year for two consecutive years.
- Burgundy primarily produces wines made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes.
