London, 6th August - Morrisons is extending its partnership with Too Good To Go so that customers can purchase 'Surprise Bags' from circ. 930 of its Morrisons Daily convenience stores to help combat food waste while providing value to customers.

Following a successful trial in various locations across north England, the midlands and Wales, Morrisons is expanding its commitment to sustainability by listing Morrisons Daily convenience stores on Too Good To Go - the world’s number one marketplace for surplus food - enabling users to fight food waste by saving Surprise Bags of surplus food at a reduced price. During the trial, over 40,000 Surprise Bags were saved across the regions.

Each bag contains quality food nearing its sell-by date, available at a reduced price. Customers simply download the Too Good To Go app, search for their nearest Morrisons Daily store, reserve Surprise Bags, and pick them up at a preset time.

Andrew Edlin, Senior Sustainability Manager for Morrisons, said: “Customers and colleagues continue to tell us how much they value Too Good To Go’s Surprise Bags from Morrisons.  It saves customers money while also helping us to play our part in reducing food waste and hitting our sustainability target of achieving scope 3 net-zero operational emissions, so we are delighted to be rolling the bags out to some of our Morrisons Daily convenience stores.”

Sophie Trueman, Country Director at Too Good To Go UK and Ireland, added: “Our team is absolutely thrilled to have Morrisons Daily joining the fight against food waste. At Too Good To Go we believe that saving food from going to waste is a win-win-win - businesses can recover the sunk cost of would-be wasted food, consumers can get good food for less, and with one simple action, we’re collectively doing something great for the planet by stopping that food from ending up in landfill.”

Today’s announcement builds on the success of Too Good To Go’s long-standing partnership with Morrisons, which was the first supermarket partner of Too Good To Go having launched in November 2019. Since then, the partnership has expanded to cover nearly 500 supermarkets       across the UK, including Morrisons Market Kitchen and Cafés, and has saved an incredible 2.3 million Surprise Bags of food from being wasted.

Food waste accounts for 10% of all human-caused greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. Fighting food waste is essential to solving the climate crisis, as it is named the number one solution to limit the temperature rise to just 2˚C by 2100 (Project Drawdown). Through its partnership with Too Good To Go, Morrisons Daily will contribute to collective efforts to reduce food waste and its environmental impact, while offering its customers great value.
