Morrisons has entered into agreement with Asda to purchase a further two former Netto UK stores.
These latest acquisitions in Worsley (Manchester) and Dunstable are in addition to the 16 former Netto stores purchased from Asda in January, the first of which began trading as a Morrisons store on 9th May.
Morrisons has bought these additional two stores from Asda who were compelled to sell them from by the Office of Fair Trading. The conversion to a Morrisons format is expected to take three months.
Mark Harrison, Retail Director of Morrisons, said:
"These additional stores are an important next step in Morrisons’ growth. We are building on our strategy to bring Morrisons’ unique offer of freshly prepared, affordable food to more people in Britain.”
We look forward to welcoming the new colleagues employed at the Netto stores as they transfer to Morrisons under TUPE regulations.
