- Morrisons has been able to turn the Royal recipe around in time for the Coronation as it has its own quiche factory -
Morrisons has created its own version of the King and Queen’s personally chosen Coronation Quiche to help customers get a taste of the royal celebrations at home.
The Coronation Quiche from Morrisons costs £3 and consists of a shortcrust pastry filled with spinach, broad beans, egg, cream, milk, cheese and tarragon.
Following the announcement of the recipe last week, Morrisons team of expert bakers have been hard at work sourcing the broad beans, spinach and tarragon and perfecting the recipe in its own quiche factory in Bradford, West Yorkshire.
King Charles and Queen Camilla chose the French-inspired dish from royal chef Mark Flanagan who has designed the quiche as the perfect centrepiece for street parties across Britain. This follows in the footsteps of the Coronation Chicken which was created for the late Queen’s celebration in 1953.
Quiche has long been a staple at British parties with this Coronation being no exception. Morrisons Coronation Quiche serves four and costs just £3, working out at 75p per person.
Rebecca Snowdon, Deli Buyer at Morrisons, said: “The Coronation is a time for great celebration and when it was announced that a quiche was the dish of choice, we wanted to offer customers a pocket-friendly option of eating like a King or Queen. At Morrisons we have our own quiche factory and so have been able to turn things around quickly and develop our Coronation quiche for our customers’ parties.”
Morrisons Coronation Quiche is available from deli counters found in-store on Market Street from the 3rd May, but be quick as when it's gone it's gone.
